The Real World: Sydney is the current and nineteenth season of MTV's popular reality television series The Real World, which focuses on seven diverse strangers living together for several months in a different city each season, as cameras follow their lives and interpersonal relationships.
Production lasted from February to May 26, 2007, though the duration of the cast's stay in the house was four months. The season was set in a contemporary 20,000-square-foot, waterfront house at 19 Darling Walk in Darling Harbour. The season premiered on August 8, 2007.
Assignment
Every season of The Real World, beginning with its fifth season, has included the assignment of a season-long group job or task to the housemates. This season, the cast is working for Contiki Tours, creating a Sydney tour package.
Cast
Cohutta Lee (23) Blue Ridge, Georgia
As shown in the premiere episode, Cohutta builds log homes for a living. He has done very little traveling away from home, and characterizes his home town and family as being "slower", because they take the time to sit down to eat together and enjoy the moment. Consequently, he feels out of place whenever he visits a city.
Dunbar Flinn (22) Natchez, Mississippi
Dunbar's family lost everything after a money-laundering scandal, and Dunbar was forced to negotiate his own financial situation, and take responsibility for his life. He enrolled in the military in order to pay for his education at the University of Mississippi, where he belonged to a fraternity. He is committed to his girlfriend back home. MTV.com describes him as "well-spoken, opinionated on political issues, literature and poetry, arrogant, and hot-headed." In the premiere, he claims to be more proud of being Southern than of being an American.
Isaac Stout (21) Cleveland, Ohio
Isaac is from Cleveland, Ohio and a business major at the University of Arizona. As he explains in the season premiere, he is an artist and a musician with a history of juvenile delinquency, having been put on probation for robbing 15 houses and shooting off fireworks through someone's window. Given the choice between nine months and jail and a "treatment center", he chose the latter, in order to reevaluate his direction in life.
Kelly Anne Judd (20) Georgetown, Texas
Kelly Anne, as she explains in the season premiere, grew up very poor, particularly compared to those she grew up with, and as a result, did not feel she fit in. She claims that if she feels someone is walking all over her, she fights back fiercely. For her entry video, she stripped down to her undershirt and panties, on which she had written, "Make it Hott: Pick Me!", explaining that she likes the attention, and is not used to other girls getting more attention than her. She is of mixed heritage that includes Italian and Irish.
Parisa Montazaran (21) New York City, New York
The daughter of Iranian immigrants, and an aspiring singer, Montazaran told the Daily News that the experience of living with cameras was an "exaggerated existence", which amounted to "partying seven days a week", but that she did nothing during her stay that would embarrass her or her family, though she did call home one night when she drank too much. Parisa says in the premiere that she recently graduated college early in order to concentrate on her music.
Shauvon Torres (24) Sacramento, California
Shauvon is a 24-year-old journalism major at the California State University Sacramento, and as she says in the premiere, wants to be a news reporter. She has her own dating and relationships column called "Sexcapades". She insists that she is not the blonde bimbo that people may think she looks like. She recently ended a long-term relationship with a man who told her she had to choose between a career and marriage and children.
Trisha Cummings (19) Fresno, California
In the premiere, Trisha says that she and her friends are the stereotypical "hot preppy girl" clique. Her parents gave her a promise ring when she was twelve, as a symbol that she would retain her virginity until marriage, but as her boyfriend Jarod states in her home video, they have not upheld that resolution.
Episodes
Episode 1. "G'Day, Australia!"
The housemates meet for the first time. Trisha is a 19-year-old blonde from California. Cohutta is a 23-year-old man from a small town in Georgia. Trisha is from a big city, but Cohutta is awed by Sydney. Kelly Anne is a 20-year-old from Texas. Isaac, a 21-year-old artist and musician, waits at a park bench, where he meets Shauvon, a 24-year-old blonde from California, whose buxom figure he instantly finds attractive. Dunbar, who hails from Mississippi, is fiercely loyal to the south. He meets Parisa, a 21-year-old New York student who is attracted to him, but she is disappointed when she sees how devoted he is to his girlfriend.
Trisha is apprehensive about her housemates when she arrives at the house, but becomes friends with Kelly Anne, who becomes her roommate. Trisha expresses doubt that she will be able to remain faithful to her boyfriend. Kelly Anne hopes to use her time in the house to show off her flirtatious side. Shauvon immediately expresses fears about being left out of Trisha and Kelly Anne's clique, but is relieved to meet Parisa, whom she deems "normal". Parisa is intimidated by the other girls' looks, seeing them as "carbon copy supermodel-types", and after Parisa gives a cursory greeting to Kelly Anne and Trisha, who have already settled into their room, before walking off to explore the house, Kelly Anne and Trisha, who have already explored the house, criticize Parisa for this, with Kelly Anne saying that Parisa will have four months to explore the house. Meanwhile, the three men discuss who they think the most attractive of the women is, and are unanimous that it's Kelly Anne. Dunbar also opines that Parisa is the "deepest" and least shallow of the four women.
The housemates go out on their first night to a club, where Isaac and Shauvon flirt playfully, while Kelly Anne gets drunk and collapses giggling. Parisa worries that her housemates' behavior will force her to become the babysitter. Annoyed and not having a good time, she leaves the club before the others.
Back at the house, Kelly Anne and Dunbar use the hot tub, and Kelly Anne flirts overtly with Dunbar. Dunbar admits that despite his loyalty to his girlfriend Julie, his loyalty is tested by Kelly Anne's overtures. Parisa observes this, and she and Shauvon discuss how they are both disgusted by Kelly Anne's behavior.
Episode 2. "Hittin' The Hot Tub"
In the morning, following Kelly Anne's romantic interlude with Dunbar in the hot tub the previous night, Parisa and Shauvon are in the bathroom criticizing Kelly Anne, and overhearing this, Kelly Anne confronts them. She subsequently vents to Trisha, opining that they're jealous because she's cute and has Dunbar's attention. Later that morning, the housemates prepare to go to the beach, but Trisha and Parisa get into an argument over Trisha cleaning the mess that Parisa left in the kitchen. At the beach, Shauvon takes her top off, but covers her breasts with her hands to discourage ogling by her male housemates, though Isaac kisses her at one point.
Later at the house, Trisha relates an incident at McDonald's in which she tried to order an item, and told the Asian store employee, who did not understand the word "sample", to "Keep the money, maybe take some English lessons, I'm leaving, because you don't know how to speak English, so it doesn't really work out." This comment, which was reported in an August 16, 2007 edition of The Daily Telegraph, offends Parisa, which she sees as "inconsiderate" and "mean". This reminds her of the anti-immigrant attitude of her teachers, who she says belittled her mother for having an accent. That evening, Kelly Anne and Trisha speak to Dunbar to win his sympathy in their conflict with Parisa and Shauvon, but he remains neutral. Meanwhile, Shauvon and Isaac share a flirtatious confessional session. Shauvon and Kelly Anne discuss their conflict and make amends, and Kelly Anne then confronts Parisa to do the same with her, and is successful.
Episode 3. "Suddenly Single"
Trisha has an argument with Jarod, her boyfriend, over the phone, and feeling that she should not have a boyfriend holding her back during a time when she should be enjoying herself, she tells him she wants to "take a break". The next day she invites over to the house a man named Alex that she met at a club. Cohutta and Isaac disapprove. Shauvon wants to take advantage of the local men, but is nervous, so Trisha coaches her and helps her set up a date. The housemates have a dinner together, during which Alex and Trisha flirt. Parisa gets drunk on two glasses of wine, and Dunbar carries her home. Trisha expresses her dislike of Parisa to Shauvon, but Shauvon defends Parisa, who is her roommate. As Shauvon becomes intimate in her bedroom with a local boy named Ky, Isaac, speaking to Cohutta, laments that he had a dalliance with someone sleeping in the next room. After Ky leaves, Shauvon regrets that she went so far on their first date. Trisha discusses her love life with Cohutta, and decides to slow down in order to decide what she wants right now. Trisha then emails Jarod to confess what happened, and while waiting for his response, Parisa complains about Trisha monopolizing the computer. The two then exchange vitriolic insults. Parisa later tells Shauvon and Kelly Anne that Trisha is "self-centered" and "toxic", and that she doesn't want to have anything to do with her. Meanwhile Trisha vents to Isaac and Cohutta, but they criticize her for insulting "hitting below the belt". Isaac says he definitely does not hate Trisha, but when Trisha asks Isaac if he likes her as a person, he responds, "I don't know yet.
Episode 4. "They’ve Got Chemistry"
Parisa and Dunbar flirt. Parisa, having previously seen Dunbar only for his good looks, says she wants to get to know him better, but Kelly Anne expresses disapproval, since he has a girlfriend back home. During an outing, Shauvon observes that Dunbar and Parisa have chemistry, and that Dunbar is provoking Parisa in order to test her because he knows she likes him, but predicts Parisa will not pursue a relationship with Dunbar because he has a girlfriend. In the confessional, Dunbar tells Kelly Anne that contrary to the perception that he’s been flirting with her, any attraction he has towards Parisa is lessened by her being “uptight”, “neurotic”, and “high-strung”, and that because she provokes him this way, he is trying to make it known to her that he doesn’t like her that much. Parisa, for her part, observes that Kelly Anne is overly sexual in the way she flirts and horses around with Dunbar. The group decide to out that evening to a bar/hotel and as they get into the car, Dunar and Parisa exchange more unkind words.
At the bar, Isaac meets up with Noirin, the Irish girl he met earlier in the day, and after sharing a romantic evening at the bar, go back to the house, where they share the hot tub before retiring to Isaac’s bed. The next day, Parisa observes to Dunbar that she is the only one on whom he takes out his anger, and says it’s “getting” old for her. Parisa decides to vent her frustrations by writing a letter to Dunbar. Dunbar relates some of the letter’s contents, in which, according to him, Parisa stated that she had a crush on him, and didn’t appreciate Kelly Anne’s behavior around him, but that Parisa herself fantasized about taking a shower with him, which Dunbar sees an inexplicable contradiction.
Episode 5. "Mini Crush"
KellyAnne states that she feels comfortable around any guy who is not “scummy”, and that she and Dunbar are just good friends. Parisa opines that Dunbar claims to be a heartfelt, gentleman, but acts like an oversexed teenager around Kelly Anne, and is not acknowledging the letter she wrote him in the previous episode. Dunbar tells Parisa that she is very attractive and interesting, but Shauvon sees the term “interesting” as a “stab to the heart”. Dunbar says that until Parisa shows that she’s capable of the relationship he’d like to have with her, he will not respond to her letter. Dunbar tells Kelly Anne that it’s not his fault if of the two women in the house who have a crush on him, one is a fun girl to hang around with, and another wants to marry him and be his soul mate. He also expresses incredulity in the confessional that Parisa doesn’t understand that he’s not interested in her. Kelly Anne says she has no feelings for Dunbar, and is annoyed to discover that Dunbar thinks she’s interested in him. She regrets having flirted with him, and seeing now that she has stepped into a love triangle, resolves to lessen her flirtatious behavior with him. Parisa and Kelly Anne talk to each other about Dunbar, whom they both now say they do not like.
Kelly Anne, that evening, tells this to Dunbar, and when he points out that she once indicated feelings for him, she says that she did not mean it in the way he apparently understood it. As Parisa, Isaac and Cohutta use the studio to make some music, Dunbar criticizes Parisa’s singing as unoriginal, and when he later tells her that women should not sing the blues, and tells her not to walk away from him as if he is holding her back, she tells him she doesn’t have to stand around to absorb his abuse. When he indicates that he was merely expressing his sincere opinion, she tells him she won’t be there while he does so. Kelly Anne and Cohutta begin flirting. When Dunbar walks in on the two of them in bed, he calls her “a hardcore cock-tease.”
Episode 6. "Wet and Wild"
Kelly Anne ponders her feelings for Cohutta, and how they seem to be going beyond friendship lately, despite herself. She and her boyfriend of three years, Sutton, decided to go "on a break" when she went to Sydney. She mentions to Sutton on the phone how she was scratching Cohutta's back earlier, and Sutton reacts by speculating that she tells him this in order to provoke anger from him. The exchange brings Kelly Anne to tears. The four women in the house go out, and discuss their boyfriend issues. Back at the house, Trisha flirts with Cohutta, which draws Kelly Anne's ire, much to Shauvon's surprise when Kelly Anne confides in her and Parisa. Dunbar states that he's happy that the burgeoning relationship between Cohutta and Kelly Anne provides some distance between him and Kelly Anne. Shauvon, while sitting on Isaac's lap, falls off, and blames him for being insensitive. Isaac contends that she is drunk, and merely fell two feet onto her rear end, and is being unreasonable.
After she throws water at him, they get into a fight, and he calls her a "drunk, stupid slut". Outside, Kelly Anne speculates to Isaac that his having kissed Shauvon one night and then gone out with Noirin the next night (Episode 4) may have played a part in Shauvon's reaction. Isaac apologizes to Shauvon, but it does not improve her demeanor. Shuavon later regrets pouring water on him, and the men laugh off the incident the next morning.
Episode 7. "Whining and Dining"
Kelly Anne receives flowers from Carey, a man she met when she was out one night with Trisha, and ponders choosing between him and Cohutta. Dunbar, who says he was with Carey for ten minutes, is dismissive of the gesture, because it means more coming from someone like him who pays their own bills. When Trisha challenges his judgment of Carey, Dunbar becomes angry and leaves the room, knocking over a box as he does so. Trisha and Shauvon later discuss Dunbar’s anger during an outing, while Dunbar explains his position to Kelly Anne and Parisa. Dunbar later angers Parisa and Trisha over a conversation about Jesus and the Bible. Dunbar vents his troubles with his female housemates during a phone call with Julie, his girlfriend. Isaac, who speculates that Dunbar’s lack of sexual activity in the house has resulted in pent-up testosterone, jokingly buys a pornographic magazine for Dunbar as a gift, leaving it on a bathroom toilet in order to encourage him to masturbate. Kelly Anne goes on a date with Carey, but finds that she is not more attracted to him than Cohutta.
When she returns home, she and Parisa deface Dunbar’s porn magazine, pasting pictures of the female housemates’ faces over the faces of the magazine’s women. After Cohutta comes home, he and Kelly Anne engage in a romantic interlude in bed.
Episode 8. "Mardis Gras Mayhem"
Cohutta express misgivings about attending Gay Mardis Gras, for fear of being perceived as gay, but his housemates jokingly reassure him. The seven housemates go on an outing to Sydney Harbor. Hearing a church song from her youth performed by street musicians, and anticipating going to the Gay Mardis Gras parade, which she was taught was sinful, causes conflict for Trisha, which brings her to tears.
After returning to the house, the group prepares to go to the parade, but Cohutta chooses to stay home, and Trisha, who is ambivalent, has a talk with him, and finds that they have a lot in common.
Kelly Anne decides to stay home also to keep them company. The other four housemates have a good time at the parade, a better time than Dunbar and Parisa speculate they would’ve had if Trisha had come. Shauvon takes offense when Isaac relates that Trisha referred to homosexuals as “evil”. Dunbar reveals that his grandfather tried to molest him several times when he was a child. Trisha, Kelly Anne and Cohutta go out to eat, and at one point, Cohutta lifts Trisha’s dress, exposing her panties, and despite his attempt at an apology, they have a heated argument. The next morning, Dunbar tells Parisa that he only told a couple of friends about his grandfather, and that his friends discovered peepholes that his grandfather had drilled in his room in order to watch him.
Episode 9. “Boys Vs. Girls”
The group receives their work assignment, working on a project for a vacation package planning organization called Contiki Holidays, which excites Shauvon. The next morning, Parisa’s waking of the men two hours before their appointment, and her singing in the shower irritates Dunbar, Isaac and Trisha. Trisha refers to Parisa’s singing as “Christina Aguilera gone bad.” Their boss, Sarah, tells them their assignment is to design a two-day trip itinerary that if good enough, will become part of Contiki’s Australia tours, and, as tool managers, take clients around Sydney to show them the itinerary.
Trisha, who admits that she’s a bad driver, tries to drive the group’s van in order to improve her skills, but Dunbar is unimpressed with her attempts use a cell phone while doing so. Later at the house, the women commiserate that the men are two-faced in the way that they speak badly about the women behind their backs. Trisha says that Dunbar has accused Parisa of cooking for the group in order to socialize with them, of wanting Dunbar to be her soulmate, and has criticized her singing in the non-soundproofed portions of the house, claiming that she’s “not as good” as Christina Aguilera. Parisa confronts Dunbar, who tells her that it is Trisha, not him, who has criticized Parisa and her singing. Parisa later relates this to Trisha and Shauvon, and expresses feelings of betrayal over this.
Episode 10. “Love Triangle”
Isaac teases Cohutta over his having begun a sexual relationship with Kelly Anne. Trisha’s date from the other night, Alex, comes over the house, and leaves a love note for Parisa, which contains a poem he wrote for her. When Trisha mentions one that he left for her, Parisa mentions the one he made for her. Trisha later tells Shauvon and Kelly Anne on an outing that the one he made for her was more meaningful.
Kelly Anne points out that Trisha has a boyfriend, and opines that Alex is “not her property”. Although Shauvon agrees that Trisha should not have a say in this, she sympathizes with how this makes her feel. Parisa later goes out with Alex, although Parisa later expresses the opinion that he is not romantically interested in Trisha. At a bar, two men get into a fight over Kelly Anne. Parisa mentions to Trisha that she hung out with Alex and Trisha’s other friend Kai. Trisha feels that Parisa broke the “girl code”, which according to her, dictates that a girl should not socialize with a man that another girl has associated with first. When Kai tells Shauvon that she’s a “6”, Shauvon, who says that she’s never been rated as merely “barely above average” is offended. The next day while out eating with Parisa, Parisa is flabbergasted that Shauvon didn’t realize that he was teasing her, and that such ratings from drunk men would even matter to her. Back at the house one night, Shauvon observes Parisa making out with Alex, and later, Trisha doing the same. She later reports this to Parisa, who much to Shauvon’s surprise, goes out with Alex and kisses him again.
Episode 11. “The Grilled Cheese Incident”
Kelly Anne presses Parisa for details of her time with Alex, but Parisa demurs. When Kelly Anne asks her if she knows that Alex and Trisha “had a thing”, Parisa points out that Trisha has a boyfriend back home, and shouldn’t be cheating on him, particularly with someone she knows a friend of hers has feelings for. Shauvon goes out with Trisha and Kelly Anne, and even though Parisa asked her not to tell Trisha about her and Alex’s kiss, Shauvon doesn’t want to betray Trisha, and tells her, much to Trisha’s amusement. Parisa relates the situation to Dunbar. Shauvon is offended by this, and says she cannot trust Parisa for this reason. One night, Parisa makes grilled cheese sandwiches for herself, Kelly Anne and Cohutta, and offers to make one for Isaac too, saying that it’s not more trouble. This begins an argument with Shauvon, who complains that Parisa would not make an omelet for her as well. Parisa clarifies that she did not want to cut up the added ingredients that this would've required. Shauvon sees this as Parisa currying favor with the men in the house. When Cohutta and Isaac defend Parisa, this leads to a screaming match between Shauvon and Cohutta, and eventually, objects thrown by both of them. Parsia and Shauvon’s attempts to talk the next day are unfruitful. The tension between Parisa and Trisha over Alex continues as Alex joins the group on a night out, during which Parisa gets drunk.
Trisha offers to walk her home, but Parisa angrily refuses, and ends up vomiting in the Confessional. Trisha accuses Parisa of talking about her in the Confessional, and gets into a screaming match with Parisa, during which Parisa excoriates Trisha over her cheating on her boyfriend.
Episode 12. “Girl Fight”
Parisa and Trisha’s fight from the end of the previous episode continues. Trisha confides to Cohutta that she told her boyfriend, Jarod, about her friendship with Alex, and asserts that it is unlike her to cheat on someone, and that she doesn’t even remember kissing Alex. Shauvon goes out with a new friend named Andrew, hoping to get over David, her ex-fiancé. He spends the night with her in her bed, but the next morning, she says that he was a mistake, because he’s not her type, and feels inexplicably guilty, even though she’s single, and still has dreams about David. Distraught over him, she writes him an email, which brings her to tears. Isaac, Kelly Anne and Cohutta have lunch out with Trisha, and encourage her to clear the air with her boyfriend, Jarod, over her dalliance with Alex.
She calls Alex and tells him that Alex is no longer allowed at the house because he kissed her when she was really drunk. Parisa asks Trisha if she would mind her hanging out with Alex, and Trisha says she would not, but asks Parisa not to bring him to the house. Parisa refuses, seeing this as Trisha telling her what to do, which she feels she has no right to do, since it was Trisha who cheated on her boyfriend. Shauvon gets an email response from David, after which they share a tearful phone call. He asks her to come home, but she doesn’t want to cut her stay in Australia short, and is overcome with uncertainty.
Episode 13. “Anger Mis-Management”
Shauvon struggles with her decision to stay in Australia and not return to the States to rekindle the relationship with her ex-fiancé. Kelly Anne tells her that if she’s ready to get married then she should return home. At Contiki Tours, Chris, the Operations Supervisor, gives the group their next assignment for the week, investigating Sydney’s food and nightlife scene, and making recommendations for a travel package itinerary. Dunbar and Parisa have a disagreement over when to leave to go out. Dunbar points out that it’s 7:45, and they should leave at 9:30. Parisa prefers to work out for two hours, and says it’s too short notice. A moment later, they get into a heated argument over the cleanliness of the house. Dunbar screams at Parisa, accusing her of being inconsiderate toward the other six people in the house. Dunbar’s girlfriend later Julie comes to visit, much to the relief of Parisa, who, echoing Isaac’s comments in Episode 7, is hopeful that sexual activity will calm Dunbar down. Trisha tells Dunar that he should apologize not for the position he took, but for the way he handled the situation. Parisa’s mother tells her over the phone not to let any man abuse her. When Julie arrives, Dunbar tells her about the incident, telling her that his behavior was not that serious. Later at a restaurant, Dunbar asks Julie if he’s selfish, and she says that he’s simply opinionated. Shauvon discusses the situation between her and David with Trisha and Isaac.
Trisha tells her that David will have to learn to compromise between the things he wants and those Shauvon wants. Shauvon later speaks to David on the phone, but his desire for her to return home is still an issue. During a discussion in the kitchen between Dunbar, Julie and Parisa, Parisa reacts in disbelief when Dunbar claims to have never been mean to her. Later at Contiki, Dunbar yells at Parisa to “Shut the fuck up” and “Shut the hell up”. When he ignores her criticisms that this is not appropriate at work, she goes to Chris, and tells him that she feels threatened. Chris admonishes Dunbar for this. Dunbar apologizes for the profanity, but grins and rolls his eyes when Parisa talks about moving forward in a non-aggressive or hostile manner. Dunbar says that this loudness and aggression is simply how he is in life, that Parisa is far more hostile to him, and that his behavior is merely retaliatory.
Episode 14. “Second Fiddle”
Isaac and Dunbar advise Cohutta to cease his relationship with Kelly Anne, citing the ties that she still has with her ex-boyfriend, Sutton, whom she spoke to the previous night on the Internet. At Contiki, the group is told that they will go on a journey to Cairns, Australia. Cohutta is excited that he will see the Great Barrier Reef. When Shauvon tells David about the trip, he becomes angry that she is not coming home. Shauvon tells her housemates that she will not go to Cairns with them, but will be going home immediately. The announcement brings both her and Parisa to tears. Shauvon and the others part ways the next morning. The group travel to Cairns. Kelly Anne feels torn between Cohutta and Sutton, and tells Cohutta this. The group goes snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef. Back on the boat, Cohutta socializes with a woman, and invites her out. Later that night at a bar, Kelly Anne says she wants to make out with someone, and ends up dancing with Prahn, the bartender. She later becomes angry when Parisa begins dancing with him herself.
The next day the group goes bungee jumping, which causes some hesitation for a fearful Isaac. That night, Parisa’s socializing with men at a bar continues to irritate Kelly Anne, who tells Parisa that she is acting “slutty”. Parisa insists that Kelly Anne is misinterpreting her intentions. Cohutta believes Kelly Anne is being immature, and talks to her, who admits that she was being mean to Parisa. Back at Darling Harbour, they continue to talk about Sutton, to whom Kelly Anne decides she should not have spoken. She tells Cohutta she wants to know if he likes her.
Episode 15. “The New Girl”
Isaac's relationship with Noirin continues. Noirin is surprised when he informs her that Shauvon moved out. They later go out for the day, and get to know one another better. Shauvon's replacement, Ashli, moves one night, and greets her new housemates. At first glance, she judges Dunbar to be the cutest. Trisha comments that she has "gorgeous eyes" and sees her as a brunette version of herself. Parisa shows Ashli their room, and Ashli immediately rips off all of Shauvon's photos from the wall. The housemates take Ashli out to a club, where Trisha opines to Ashli that Parisa is disappointed that Ashli is so much like Trisha, as she was hoping her new roommate would be someone she could relate to more. Parisa however, when speaking to her 16-year-old sister Nikki on the phone, tells that that having a new roommate alleviates the tension and conflict she is experiencing from her other housemates. Ashli says that she gets along well with Trisha and Kelly Anne, but feels Parisa has made no attempt to get to know her, despite her own attempts to form a rapport.
Trisha says that Parisa has isolated herself from the others since she screamed at her on the recent vacation. At a club, Isaac and befriends three girls, and invites them back to the house, where he introduces them to the others. He eventually ends the evening because, as he explains, they were "corny", he was drunk, and was unhappy without Noirin, with whom he subsequently speaks on the phone. Parisa tells Kelly Anne that after having come into conflict with several of her housemates, she does not want to set herself up for more such conflict with Ashli. In an interview, she tearfully regrets that she has changed to the point where she has allowed herself to treat a total stranger in this manner because of a first impression.
Episode 16. “The Birds”
Isaac leaves the house, leaving a note for his roommates, much to their worry. In footage taken two days before his, he reveals that he used to take LSD, and still suffers from occasional hallucinations of birds. He is particularly troubled when he sees black birds, because he interprets such visions as a premonition that someone has died, as the two occurrences have coincided four times in the past. Having recently seen such a bird, he calls his friend Leah back home and asks her to ask his mother to contact him, despite that fact that it's 5:30am where she is. At Contiki, Sarah splits the group into two teams competing to create a two-day travel itinerary, and will send them on the trip with the clients. The winner will receive a two-week, all-expenses-paid trip to Europe. The first group is Isaac, Parisa, and team leader Trisha. The second group is Kelly Anne, Ashli, Dunbar, and team leader Cohutta.
Episode 17. “Off the Hook”
While Trisha speaks to Jarod on the phone, an series of incoming calls comes in, much to her annoyance. The call turns out to be for Parisa, who explains she hasn't spoken to her family for three days. Trisha cuts her call short so that Parisa can use the phone. Parisa says that Trisha talks to Jarod on the phone "all the time". Trisha says that she herself hasn't spoken to her family in five days, but that they do not call her "off the heezy", a remark that Parisa perceives as "rude" and disrespectful to her mother. Parisa's mother advises her to ignore such things, because her family are the only ones who truly care about her. Dunbar misses Julie, but gets into an argument with her over the phone when she uses the nickname "Dummy Bear" with him, which angers him. Dunbar, Kelly Anne, Ashli and Parisa go out to a bar, where Dunar and Ashli flirt and dance.
Ashli continues her flirtation back home. She opines that he would've had sex with her by now if he was assured of not being caught by Julie. Parisa speaks to her mother, explaining to her how unaccustomed she is to the level of anger that she has witnessed in the house.
As the other housemates clean up, Trisha suggest to Parisa that she join in. Parisa asks her to let her know what needs cleaning, and says she'll do it after she's done working out because she's not interested in doing it as a group. Trisha complains that they'll be finished by the time Parisa is done working out. Parisa perceives her roommates' irritation as deriving more from their perception that she is snubbing them than genuine concern over the task. Ashli joins Dunbar in his bed that night. The next day Trisha and Parisa both need to talk to their families, both of whom will soon go on vacation. Parisa gets to the phone first, so Trisha asks if she could make it short, fueling a tense moment. As Parisa's call nears an hour, and Trisha becomes upset, Kelly Anne asks Parisa to let Trisha use the phone.
Parisa cites Trisha's previous comments towards her mother as disincentive, but decides to let Trisha use the phone, and later complains to Kelly Anne that Trisha has been speaking to Jarod every day, and would sooner talk to him than her own family anyway. Trisha overhears this, and flies into a rage, arguing that her family was busy with their work, and shoves Parisa, knocking her down to the floor. Citing the producers' rule against physical violence, Parisa contacts them to complain.
Episode 18. "Enjoy Your Flight"
Tempers flare as Parisa and Trisha continue their argument from the previous episode. Trisha's father advises her to apologize to Parisa, but Trisha's attempt to do so degenerates into another exchange of insults between them. Trisha, Kelly Anne, Ashli, and Cohutta discuss the likelihood of whether Parisa will send Trisha home. Meanwhile, Parisa's sister Nikki insists that she stand up for herself, lest Trisha be emboldened to exhibit similar behavior in the future. Parisa requests a house meeting to discuss the matter. Dunbar is present at the meeting, and is apprised of the incident. Dunbar says the fact that it occurred in the heat of the moment should be taken into consideration, as should Trisha's intent. Cohutta says it would be more classy of Parisa not to retaliate, but Parisa interprets this as an obligation on her part to encourage such behavior in the future.
Ashli suggests that forgiving Trisha could provide an opportunity to start anew and learn from the incident. Kelly Anne agrees that doing this would show the world how strong Parisa is. Parisa believes her housemates are not considering her perspective. Trisha admits she was wrong, and that she lost respect for herself, but Parisa feels she is saying this only for fear of the consequences, and was not sincere when she apologized earlier. Parisa says she does not hate Trisha, but does not want to continue living with her for fear of future incidents. Dunbar feels that Parisa did not truly take their opinions into consideration, and Kelly Anne predicts the next two and a half months in the house will be unpleasant for Parisa, with every one of them hating her. Parisa is unmoved by this argument, which she sees as a threat. The meeting concludes, and Kelly Anne and Ashli help Trisha pack, bringing Kelly Anne to tears. Cohutta is surprised at Parisa's decision, and says that the coming months will be "unstoppable hell" for her. Kelly Anne and Ashli say that they will make Parisa's remaining time in the house unpleasant.
Trisha says that Parisa's decision proves that Trisha is the better person, that she has no respect for Parisa, who she says has an "ugly heart". Dunbar opines in an interview that Trisha was "the most manipulative, conniving person, calculating, in the house", and is undisturbed by her departure. Before leaving the house, Trisha tells Parisa that she is sending her home because Trisha says what everyone else thinks, which is that Parisa is "nothing". Seeing this as confirmation that Trisha "still looks at everyone with the same narrow-mindedness that she came into [the] house with", Parisa responds, "Enjoy your flight. Take care." Later, Kelly Anne and Ashli, while sitting above the phone room, spit on it as Parisa uses it, which she notices. The next day, Parisa's father suggests she give her housemates a few days. At Contiki, Sarah announces that in light of Isaac and Trisha's absence, for the current itinerary project, Ashli and Parisa will now be on the same team, with Ashli as leader, much to both of their displeasure. Back home, Dunbar tells Parisa that she made the right decision regarding Trisha, and has earned his favor for it.
Episode 19. "Friends Again"
Isaac returns, and is pleased about Trisha's eviction, arguing that no one liked her. Kelly Anne insists that she did. Parisa is relieved at Isaac's statements. Not wanting to continue hating Parisa, Kelly Anne begins softening towards her, and apologizes to her. Ashli acknowledges she isn't privy to what went on before she moved in, and concedes Trisha's eviction was the result of what she did. Isaac takes a nude dip in the house's human-sized fish tank. The cast enjoys a group dip in the hot tub. Dunbar has sex with Ashli, but they regret it the next day.
Episode 20. "Praying for a Miracle"
A broken condom provides a scare for Kelly Anne and Cohutta, who ponder how their lives will change if Kelly Anne turns out to be pregnant. Cohutta tells her that she must come to Georgia with him if she is with child. She is adamant that she does not want children. Meanwhile, following Dunbar and Ashli's sexual tryst (which they continue to conceal from their housemates and relatives), their relationship experiences conflict when she perceives him to be disrespectful to her. Kelly Anne experiences her menstrual period, much to her and Cohutta's relief.
Episode 21. "The Honeymoon is Over"
As the cast prepares their Contiki itineraries, Dunbar perceives Ashli's team to be far more well-organized than his own. He continues to argue with her, concluding that she is the most immature of the women in the house, and that all of them are "stupid". At one point they get into a heated exchange of insults and profanities. She realizes that she no longer sees him as she did when she first moved in. Cohutta sprains his ankle.
Episode 22. "Tourism"
The two teams lead their bus tours around Sydney. Kelly Anne thinks it unprofessional of Dunbar to have informed some of the tourists that she is sleeping with Cohutta. Sarah sends Dunbar and Kelly Anne home for drinking. Isaac buys drinks for their tour if they give Dunbar's team a grade of zero. Cohutta says if he can hobble on one foot for three days, Dunbar and Kelly Anne can abstain from drinking. Dunbar argues with a tourist, and when Kelly Anne tells him not to, he dismisses her, and Cohutta admonishes both not to leave the group, for which Kelly Anne is irritated with Cohutta the next day. Ashli's team wins.
Episode 23. "Moving on and Out"
As the cast's stay in the house nears its end, Ashli and Dunbar's conflict continues. Kelly Anne is nervous regarding her relationship with Cohutta, which also experiences conflict. Ashli is enraged when Dunbar boasts to others that she performed oral sex on him twice. When she confronts him, he angrily calls her a "stupid bitch" and a "trash". They later reconcile in an effort to leave the house as friends. Parisa gives each castmate a little gift before they say their good-byes.
